{"id":37,"date":"2011-10-21T10:48:03","date_gmt":"2011-10-21T14:48:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/benefitslaw\/?p=37"},"modified":"2014-09-10T10:16:31","modified_gmt":"2014-09-10T14:16:31","slug":"irs-announces-pension-plan-limitations-for-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/benefitslaw\/2011\/10\/21\/irs-announces-pension-plan-limitations-for-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"IRS Announces Pension Plan Limitations for 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On October 20, 2011, the Internal Revenue Service published <a href=\"http:\/\/www.irs.gov\/newsroom\/article\/0,,id=248482,00.html\" target=\"_blank\">news release IR-2011-103<\/a>, which details the cost-of-living adjustments for dollar limitations for pension plans and other retirement-related benefits for the 2012 tax year.<\/p>\n<p>Of particular note for plan sponsors is the fact that the elective deferral limit has been increased from $16,500 to $17,000 and the annual limitation for contributions to defined contribution plans increased from $49,000 to $50,000. In addition, the annual compensation limit increased from $245,000 to $250,000.
