{"id":145,"date":"2020-03-21T10:23:45","date_gmt":"2020-03-21T14:23:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/coronaviruscovid19\/?p=145"},"modified":"2020-09-02T15:28:35","modified_gmt":"2020-09-02T19:28:35","slug":"california-education-institutions-exempted-from-statewide-stay-at-home-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/coronaviruscovid19\/2020\/03\/21\/california-education-institutions-exempted-from-statewide-stay-at-home-order\/","title":{"rendered":"California Education Institutions Exempted from Statewide Stay-at-Home Order"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governor Newsom\u2019s Stay-at-Home\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/covid19.ca.gov\/img\/N-33-20.pdf\">Order<\/a>\u00a0requires \u201call individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence except as needed to maintain continuity of the federal critical infrastructure sectors.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0The Order exempted \u201c16 critical infrastructure sectors whose . . . incapacitation or destruction would have a debilitating effect on security, economic security, public health, or any combination thereof.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We all intuitively know academic institutions fit this description, and the Order agrees:\u00a0\u00a0\u201cGovernment Facilities\u201d are included as one of those 16 critical infrastructure sectors, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisa.gov\/identifying-critical-infrastructure-during-covid-19\">cited-to guidance<\/a>\u00a0in the Order confirms that this includes an \u201cEducation Facilities Subsector [that] covers pre-kindergarten through 12th grade schools, institutions of higher education, and business and trade schools.
