A new supplemental paid sick leave law related to COVID-19 takes effect this month. On September 9, 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed\u00a0<a title=\"AB-1867 Small employer family leave mediation: handwashing: supplemental paid sick leave.\" href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201920200AB1867\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AB 1867<\/a>\u00a0(now known as Labor Code section 248 and 248.1) into law.
