{"id":534,"date":"2024-04-09T11:53:53","date_gmt":"2024-04-09T15:53:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/europeansanctionsenforcement\/?p=534"},"modified":"2024-04-09T11:53:53","modified_gmt":"2024-04-09T15:53:53","slug":"united-kingdom-charges-to-two-further-individuals-added-to-existing-prosecution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/europeansanctionsenforcement\/2024\/04\/09\/united-kingdom-charges-to-two-further-individuals-added-to-existing-prosecution\/","title":{"rendered":"United Kingdom &#8211; charges to two further individuals added to existing prosecution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Further to our <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/europeansanctionsenforcement\/2024\/02\/01\/united-kingdom-nca-charges-russian-national-with-seven-counts-of-circumventing-sanctions\/\">earlier post<\/a>, regarding the UK&#8217;s National Crime Agency charging Dmitry Ovsyannikov with multiple counts of breaching the UK&#8217;s Russian sanctions, following a hearing in London it is now apparent that the National Crime Agency has also charged Ekaterina Ovsiannikova (the first defendant&#8217;s wife) and Alexei Owsjanikow, (the second defendant&#8217;s brother).<\/p>\n<p>As per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spotlightcorruption.org\/court-calendar\/joined-ovsiannikov-sanctions-evasion-case\/\">Spotlight on Corruption<\/a>, a further hearing is listed for 28 June to hear application by the defendants to dismiss the charges.<\/p>\n<p>The hearing, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/globalinvestigationsreview.com\/article\/defendants-in-first-uk-criminal-sanctions-evasion-case-seek-dismissal\">Global Investigations Review<\/a> (behind a paywall), on Monday was largely procedural and dealt with issues like bail terms.
