{"id":552,"date":"2024-04-22T05:05:57","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T09:05:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/europeansanctionsenforcement\/?p=552"},"modified":"2024-04-22T05:05:57","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T09:05:57","slug":"uk-charity-commission-investigates-sanctioned-persons-fundraising","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/europeansanctionsenforcement\/2024\/04\/22\/uk-charity-commission-investigates-sanctioned-persons-fundraising\/","title":{"rendered":"UK &#8211; Charity Commission investigates sanctioned person&#8217;s fundraising"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UK&#8217;s Charity Commission has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/regulator-investigates-fundraising-activity-over-links-to-pro-hamas-media-outlet\">issued a press release<\/a> stating that it had launched a statutory investigation into the activities of Aozma Sultana who is designated under the UK&#8217;s terrorism sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>The Charity Commission has confirmed that Aozma Sultana, by virtue of being a designated person, and so subject to an asset freeze, has been removed from any trustee or senior management role in the charity Gaza Now.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission is also investigating the role of two companies, Aakhirah Limited and Al-Qureshi Executives is possible misappropriation of funds by the charity.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first action taken by the Charity Commission in relation to sanctioned trustee.
