{"id":779,"date":"2024-11-08T08:00:37","date_gmt":"2024-11-08T12:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/europeansanctionsenforcement\/?p=779"},"modified":"2024-11-08T08:00:38","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T12:00:38","slug":"germany-seven-year-sentence-for-exports-of-military-and-dual-use-goods-to-russia-and-confiscation-of-profits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/europeansanctionsenforcement\/2024\/11\/08\/germany-seven-year-sentence-for-exports-of-military-and-dual-use-goods-to-russia-and-confiscation-of-profits\/","title":{"rendered":"Germany &#8211; seven year sentence for exports of military and dual-use goods to Russia and confiscation of profits"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It is <a href=\"https:\/\/english.nv.ua\/nation\/german-businessman-sentenced-to-7-years-for-selling-machining-tools-to-russian-weapons-manufacturer-50464754.html\">being reported<\/a> that the Higher Regional Court in Stuttgart has convicted Ulli S, a 56 year old man, of breaches of the EU sanctions against Russia and the German foreign trade law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per our earlier posts, the man <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/europeansanctionsenforcement\/2023\/08\/24\/arrest-in-germany-for-exporting-dual-use-goods-to-russia\/\">was arrested<\/a> in August 2023, and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/europeansanctionsenforcement\/2023\/11\/13\/germany-charges-for-exporting-military-and-dual-use-goods-to-russia\/\">had been charged<\/a> in November 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exports were of machinery which can be used for the manufacture of sniper rifles and other weapons. Some of the exports were sent to Russia via Switzerland and others via Lithuania, while the customs data was falsified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contracts for the supply of the goods had been entered into in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The individual is said to have profited by 2.1 million euros, while a Swiss holding company benefitted by roughly 3 million euros. According <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiegel.de\/panorama\/justiz\/stuttgart-unternehmer-verkaufte-maschinen-an-russischen-waffenhersteller-sieben-jahre-gefaengnis-a-164d020f-c564-499c-a516-f10330cab06b\">to <em>Der Spiegel<\/em><\/a> these sums have been confiscated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trial lasted several months and is subject to a possible appeal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is being reported that the Higher Regional Court in Stuttgart has convicted Ulli S, a 56 year old man, of breaches of the EU sanctions against Russia and the German foreign trade law.
