{"id":832,"date":"2025-01-17T07:54:54","date_gmt":"2025-01-17T11:54:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/europeansanctionsenforcement\/?p=832"},"modified":"2025-01-17T07:54:54","modified_gmt":"2025-01-17T11:54:54","slug":"united-kingdom-hmrc-unaware-of-how-many-sanctions-investigations-it-is-currently-conducting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/europeansanctionsenforcement\/2025\/01\/17\/united-kingdom-hmrc-unaware-of-how-many-sanctions-investigations-it-is-currently-conducting\/","title":{"rendered":"United Kingdom &#8211; HMRC unaware of how many sanctions investigations it is currently conducting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sky News in the UK has made a Freedom of Information Request to the UK&#8217;s primary trade sanctions enforcement body, His Majesty&#8217;s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), asking for the &#8220;number of cases you are currently investigating&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/russia-sanctions-fears-over-uk-enforcement-by-hmrc-13290206\"><em>Sky News<\/em> piece here <\/a>(including some comments from Mark Handley of this blog).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HMRC has responded (<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/europeansanctionsenforcement\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2025\/01\/FOI2024_235778_-002.pdf\">available here<\/a> and with thanks to <em>Sky News<\/em> for providing a copy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has said that &#8220;<em>the number of current investigations &#8230; is not centrally recorded.
