{"id":125,"date":"2020-12-04T17:11:04","date_gmt":"2020-12-04T21:11:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/opportunityzones\/?p=125"},"modified":"2026-05-28T13:26:43","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T17:26:43","slug":"pseg-invests-in-a-25-interest-of-ocean-wind-the-1-7b-wind-project-off-the-nj-coast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.duanemorris.com\/opportunityzones\/2020\/12\/04\/pseg-invests-in-a-25-interest-of-ocean-wind-the-1-7b-wind-project-off-the-nj-coast\/","title":{"rendered":"PSEG invests in a 25% interest of Ocean Wind &#8211; the $1.7B Wind Project off the NJ Coast"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><strong>Public Service Enterprise Group<\/strong> announced earlier today, Friday, December 4, 2020, that it will invest in a 25% share of Ocean Wind, the <strong>$1.7 billion, 1,100-megawatt<\/strong> wind energy project off the coast of Atlantic City, New Jersey.<br \/><br \/>Ocean Wind is owned by <strong>\u00d8rsted North America<\/strong>, and is anticipated to provide 500,000 households with energy when operational.<br \/><br \/>It\u2019s the first of three tranches of <strong>7,500 megawatts<\/strong> in offshore wind the Murphy administration is aiming to have in the state\u2019s energy capacity by 2050.<br \/><br \/>The operation and maintenance of the Ocean Wind facility is expected to create over<strong> 65\u00a0 full-time jobs<\/strong> during the 25-year lifecycle of the project, according to Gabriel Martinez, a spokesperson for \u00d8rsted.<br \/><br \/>In June, according to NJBIZ, Gov. Phil Murphy unveiled a 200-acre \u201cwind port\u201d in Salem County on the Delaware Bay, where the wind turbines will\u00a0be produced and shipped out across the Jersey Shore.<br \/><br \/>The facility will be located in <strong>Lower Alloway Creek Township<\/strong>, adjacent to PSEG\u2019s Hope Creek Nuclear Generation Station \u2013 at a facility PSEG already owns.\u00a0 The site is within a mile of a designated federal Opportunity Zone and could spur some additional development within the nearby zone.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Duane Morris<\/strong> has an active Opportunity Zone Team to help CDCs and other organizations and individuals plan, respond to, and invest in Opportunity Zones and low income areas throughout the USA, including the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
