Duane Morris Attorneys Named “Lawyers of the Year” for Construction Law and Litigation

Duane Morris partners Frederick Cohen and Allen J. Ross have been recognized by Best Lawyers® as 2025 “Lawyers of the Year.” The recognition is given to only one attorney for each practice area and city. Lawyers are selected based on high marks received during peer-review assessments conducted by Best Lawyers each year.

Cohen has been selected as the “Lawyer of the Year” in New York City for Construction Law. He also received this distinction in 2018 and was named for Litigation – Construction in 2014.

Ross has been selected as the “Lawyer of the Year” in New York City for Litigation – Construction. He also received this distinction in 2015 and 2016.

With more than 35 years of experience in construction matters, Cohen’s work includes resolving issues involving delays, defective performance and structural failures. He also has resolved many cases through alternative dispute resolution procedures. Cohen’s practice focuses upon the representation of owner-developers, nonprofit institutions, contractors and sureties in both the private and public sectors. He has been recognized by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business as one of the leading construction attorneys in New York since 2008.

Ross has more than 45 years of experience practicing law in the areas of construction, litigation and real estate. In addition to traditional legal work, he has developed a career in alternative dispute resolution in the construction industry, serving as an arbitrator, mediator and dispute review board chair. Ross is a member of the American, New York State and New York City Bar Associations, as well as the Construction Industry Panel of Arbitrators and the Panel of Mediators of the American Arbitration Association. He has been recognized by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business as one of the leading construction attorneys in New York since 2008.
