Termination Clauses and Temporary COVID-19 Relief From UK Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill
The new Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill will introduce new provisions to protect a company from suppliers wishing to terminate supply contracts or invoking more draconian terms when the company is entering into certain insolvency procedures, a CVA, or a new restructuring plan or moratorium (as introduced by the Bill), (each an “Insolvency Procedure”).
The purpose behind the new provisions is to maximise the possibility of a company being rescued or being able to sell its business as a going concern by helping it to trade through an Insolvency Procedure.

Establishment of Alternative Arrangements in Singapore for Companies’ General Meetings
The COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Alternative Arrangements for Meetings for Companies, Variable Capital Companies, Business Trusts, Unit Trusts and Debenture Holders) Order 2020 (Order) was published in the Gazette on 13 April (and subsequently amended on 14 April 2020 and on 24 April 2020) and is deemed to come into effect on 27 March 2020.

DOL Rescinds Extensions to Meet PERM Deadlines During the COVID-19 Pandemic
On June 4, 2020, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) rescinded deadline extensions it had instituted on March 20 to help employers meet PERM requirements during the pandemic. Unfortunately, employers sponsoring foreign national employees for PERM labor certification-based green cards will for now receive no further accommodations from the DOL during the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Jersey Announces Required Safety Protocols for Reopening Businesses
On June 3, 2020, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy unveiled specific safety protocols that certain businesses must follow as they reopen later this month. Specifically, Governor Murphy executed Executive Order 20-150, which will allow nonessential retail and outdoor dining to reopen on June 15. The Order specifies the requirements necessary for such businesses to commence operations on June 15. Governor Murphy also announced that hair salons and barbershops will be allowed to reopen on June 22.

Congress Passes Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act to Revise Key Components of Paycheck Protection Program
The Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act (PPP Flexibility Act), which changes some of the components of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) provided under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), was passed by the House of Representatives on May 28, 2020, and by the Senate on June 3, 2020. The PPP Flexibility Act is expected to be signed into law soon.

New UK Government Furlough Scheme as of 10 June
From 1 July 2020, there will be a new flexible furlough scheme where furloughed employees will be able to return to work on a part-time basis. Full guidance has yet to be issued (proposed for 12 June 2020) but present Guidance has advised that only employees who started furlough on or before 10 June 2020 will be eligible for the new scheme.
