Pennsylvania Issues New Travel Restrictions and Order Expanding Use of Face Coverings; Philadelphia Mayor Announces New “Safer at Home” COVID-19 Restrictions

With COVID-19 cases increasing across the country and the holiday travel season approaching, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced two orders on November 17, 2020, requiring new travel restrictions and expanding the required use of face coverings. On November 16, 2020, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney also announced new mandatory guidelines for individuals and businesses that are arguably some of the most restrictive in the nation, harkening back to the city’s stay-at-home order from the spring.

New Jersey Executive Order Requires Masks to Be Worn Outdoors

On July 8th, 2020, NJ Gov. Phil Murphy announced that he will be signing an executive order that requires face coverings to be worn outdoors at all times where social distancing is not possible.

Maryland Executive Order Requires Face Coverings for Public Transportation, Foodservice and Retail Establishments; Physical Distancing in Retail Spaces

On April 15, 2020, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan signed an Executive Order requiring Marylanders to wear face coverings under certain circumstances, including when using public transportation and when inside of foodservice and/or retail establishments. The order also requires retail establishments to post signage concerning the face covering requirement and to take other physical distancing measures. Any person who knowingly and willfully violates the order will be charged with a misdemeanor, subject to imprisonment of up to one year and a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
