On August 7, 2020, Governor Murphy announced the Small Landlord Emergency Grant (SLEG) Program, which will reimburse small residential rental property owners for lost rent revenue due to COVID-19 between April and July 2020. The program is structured to pass the benefit on to their tenants by requiring forgiveness of certain outstanding back rent and late fees. On July 23, 2020, New Jersey Governor Murphy announced a new relief program for small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Small Business Lease – Emergency Assistance Grant Program (SBL-EAGP) will allow businesses in 64 eligible municipalities to apply for grants of up to $10,000 for lease costs. The program will assist small business owners impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which also assists landlords, many of whom are also small businesses.

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. employers were asking employees to report if they had visited certain countries and, if the answer was yes, the employees were subject to at least a 14‑day quarantine. As the pandemic resurges after the U.S. effectively has gone green, travel-related quarantines are now back after visiting certain states within the U.S.

Earlier today, Gov. Phil Murphy announced that indoor dining will no longer be permitted later this week as part of New Jersey’s Reopening Plan. Initially, indoor dining was supposed to be able to resume this week on Thursday, in time for the Fourth of July weekend. Given the rising number of cases in other States and the crowds expected this weekend for the 4th of July, the Governor has opted to slow down the reopening of indoor dining.

On June 3, 2020, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy unveiled specific safety protocols that certain businesses must follow as they reopen later this month. Specifically, Governor Murphy executed Executive Order 20-150, which will allow nonessential retail and outdoor dining to reopen on June 15. The Order specifies the requirements necessary for such businesses to commence operations on June 15. Governor Murphy also announced that hair salons and barbershops will be allowed to reopen on June 22.

Governor Murphy signed Executive Order No. 147, allowing certain outdoor activities at recreational businesses, including archery ranges, batting cages, golf driving ranges, horseback riding, shooting ranges, and tennis clubs as well as community gardens to open with required social distancing measures in place. The EO takes effect on Friday, May 22 at 6:00 a.m.
